In reaction to the consumerism brought by big corporations during Black Friday, the first Small Business Saturday was held in 2010. It was sponsored by American Express and has been promoted on social media ever since. This day is all about supporting independent businesses over large chain brands. If you’re a small business this is a great opportunity to run a promo on your social feeds too.
