Ad platforms are strict about shape. These are the ones people crop for most:
- 9:16 — Reels, TikTok, Shorts, Stories (1080 × 1920)
- 1:1 — square feed posts (1080 × 1080)
- 4:5 — Instagram and Facebook portrait (1080 × 1350)
- 16:9 — YouTube, landscape, in-stream (1920 × 1080)
- 2:3 — Pinterest standard (1000 × 1500)
- 1.91:1 — Meta and LinkedIn link ads (1200 × 628)
- 300 × 250, 300 × 600, 728 × 90, 320 × 50, 970 × 250, 160 × 600 — standard display placements

Cropping is not scaling
Scaling a 16:9 video to 9:16 squashes everyone in it. Cropping takes a 9:16 window out of the frame and discards the rest, so the picture keeps its proportions and you decide what stays.
That’s what this tool does, and it’s why the crop box matters — a centred crop is rarely the right one when the subject is off to one side.
